Produced in the highlands of northern Thailand, Doi Tung emerged from one of the most ambitious alternative-development efforts of the 20th century—replacing opium cultivation with agriculture designed to restore land, create durable livelihoods, and support self-sustaining communities. Coffee became a cornerstone of that transition, chosen for its fit with elevation, climate, and long-term economic stability.
We’re drawn to Doi Tung not just for the cup, but for what it represents: farming used deliberately as a social and ecological tool. This is coffee shaped by policy, patience, and systems thinking—where quality enables continuity over generations.
In the cup, expect gentle florals, stone fruit sweetness, and a soft caramel finish, carried by balance and clarity rather than intensity.
This coffee isn’t about novelty. It’s about what happens when farming, climate, and community are aligned over decades—and how those decisions continue to show up in the cup.

Meet your roaster at origin
Founded in 2021 in Bangkok, Hai Coffee was born from a simple idea: that exceptional coffee should be crafted with care, shared with honesty, and grown with respect for the world around us.
The name “Hai” (海), meaning “sea” in Chinese, reflects the boundless spirit of exploration and passion behind the brand.
From day one, Hai set out to prove that specialty coffee can be inclusive, not elitist — A part of everyday life for everyone.
Coffee designed for equity
We do things a little bit differently in the modern coffee trade. In fact, we don’t trade at all. We partner directly with producers and roasters to craft coffee in small batches - all from origin.
Roasting at origin means you get coffees that are uniquely reflective of each region. Producers and roasters working together to express their craft, varietals, and time-honored growing traditions.
It also means more what you pay stays in coffee producing countries versus typical coffee models that focus on trading green coffee.
