Origin Roasted Series Teco Echeverria
This month’s coffee
Bella Pacamara
Recently we went to Guatemala City to meet with Teco Echeverria and taste his coffees collaborations for Fijo. He is a roaster/owner of Teco Coffehouse and a National Barista Champion.
This month we feature a washed Pacamara that shines with layered sweetness and balance.
Caramel and chocolate form the cup’s rich foundation, while ripe fruit and red apple add brightness and juiciness. Teco’s roast highlights the variety’s depth and elegance, offering a clean, generous cup that lingers with smooth sweetness.

Meet your roaster at origin
We are honored to feature José Miguel “Teco” Echeverría in this series.
Teco is known for elevating Guatemalan coffee through close collaboration with producers and his dedication to building a vibrant domestic coffee culture. His roasting style highlights clarity, vibrancy, and regional character, bringing out a fresh spectrum of flavors beyond Guatemala’s traditional chocolate-forward profile.
Founder of Teco Coffee House in Guatemala City, Teco began his career at just 16 and trained at Finca El Injerto, the reknowned producer which he calls his “university” of coffee. He is a two-time Guatemala National Barista Champion (2014, 2024) and international competitor.
Coffee designed for equity
We do things a little bit differently in the modern coffee trade. In fact, we don’t trade at all. We partner directly with producers and roasters to craft coffee in small batches - all from origin.
Roasting at origin means you get coffees that are uniquely reflective of each region. Producers and roasters working together to express their craft, varietals, and time-honored growing traditions.
It also means more what you pay stays in coffee producing countries versus typical coffee models that focus on trading green coffee.
